Second week of waiting

We are onto the second week of waiting for solstice which is the week of the plant (oskihtépak) for us.  We celebrated the start of Hanukkah over the weekend with the return of donuts and latkes.  It is great to work together in the kitchen even if it is a lot of work.  Runa loves eating our dinners by candle light.  We also celebrated St Nicholas and read a story about  while waiting for him to fill our boots (all the  shoes and boots in the house).  We are trying to sing and read together each night.  Tonight we will go on a pony ride and hot chocolate with some friends.  The children are very excited about all the things going on.  As I try to keep them the same each year, they know what to expect and anticipate them with memories of last time.  What are you doing while you wait?
